Elberta

Elberta was founded in the early 20th century by a Chicago-based land company. The Baldwin County Colonization Company was organized in 1903, and the first settlers arrived in 1904.

If you prefer the small town feel but want to be near the action, Elberta is the place for you! The community was founded by farmers who had immigrated from Germany to the Midwest of America. Elberta is located in Baldwin County and has less than 2,000 residents but the Gulf beaches are just a short 16 miles away.

Known for its quirky vibe, Elberta is home to a host of interesting restaurants, hotels, museums, and shops.

Route 98 runs through the town, giving easy access to Foley AL (5 miles away) and the Florida state line in Lilian (10 miles away).

One of the most well-known highlights about Elberta is the Elberta German Sausage Festival which began in the mid 1970's in efforts to support the Elberta Voluntary Fire Department. This event is held twice a year, last weekend in March and last weekend in October, and has become a staple for all of Baldwin County which usually attracts around 40,000 people.

As a small town in close proximity to urban areas as well as the Gulf Coast, Elberta is a great place to consider buying a home if you want to be near the action but not in it.
